This has to be the worst place I have ever been to. Service sucks and the wait to get ur food is unbelievable. I order a few chicken plates and a burger it took almost 30 minutes to get my food. I wouldn't have minded if it would have been a busy day but there was only two other customer. The food was good but not good enough to make up for the long wait. It's a nice clean place to eat if only their service was better or they had ur food served a bit faster. Not to mention the employees don't greet u with a smile. It feels like they are their cause they have to and not cause they enjoy their JOB!!!

This place takes me back to flavorful and colorful memories of good food and good friends. Delicious Hawaiian bbq dishes on the menu. My favorite is chicken katsu and chicken BBQ with rice and that unforgettable macaroni salad mmmmm. Spam and eggs are classic PI foods. Yes! Vibrant atmosphere inside with friendly staff. Sweet and chill place to hang out with friends, family, and colleagues. Cravings satisfied always!

Not bad...the BBQ chicken is pretty good. All other items are only average. If you are looking for decent shave ice, go to Below Zero in Upland.

Kalua pork is not real Kalua pork, it lacks the Hawaiian sea salty taste that would qualify it as "Hawaiian". Portions are small and made smaller by mixing the pork with cabbage to make it look bigger than it is. Usually the pork sits on top of the cabbage. Price is a little high. I got a mini kalua pork plate (small) and a drink which is around $9. Their reg sized combo plates are a good size and are around $15. (Not including drink) I usually get the beef/chicken combo which is better than the pork. They have a really large menu and probably a dozen different drinks. It's clean and air conditioned, staff is OK not great on guest service but also not rude. Large indoor seating, plenty of parking. They also do shave ice and catering. I believe there's an Ono Hawaiian BBQ down the street that tastes better, priced better and has a drive thru.

Love the food but the cashier had horrible customer service. All other workers are so nice except her. She is a tall young lady , named Breana. She looks like she hates her job & I don't ever feel welcomed by her. Other than that the cooks are excellent & make amazing food. All other workers are so welcoming.

Normally this establishment would get a 5 star rating from me. The food was...off to say it the best way... The Katsu seemed recooked-The Kalua pork was over cooked and had too much lettuce in it. They gave me 1 scoop of Mac and not 2-the proportions are less than what you would get at a real L&L. I have been to many....on the island and the mainland and this one by far...was way off! The staff was nice and friendly but the food....not L&L quality.

First thing that comes to my mind is the B in the window looked at Health Department website heating issues and sanitation issues regarding employees food and drinks and washing of hands but oh well good is ok but not are they slow. Read the health department review and needless to say I won't be eating here anymore going to have to find another spot for Hawaiian Food. I'm upset that the simply things can be kept up.

Ordered chicken katsu and double Mac, no rice. I waited about 15 minutes for it and only two other people inside...weird. The greeting was friendly but the service was oddly detached. It was like they said hi because they had to and when it came time to order I was a bother :/ The chicken was great but the katsu sauce was just okay, too watery and too much tang not enough zing...if that makes sense. The macaroni was pretty good actually. I'd come here again if I was feeling in the mood for Hawaiian on the go but I know there are other possibly better options nearby.

Came back recently with coworkers and noticed the service had improved a bit because the employees seemed to be keeping themselves busy.

I have had L&L before but this location didn't satisfy me. I have a 30 minute lunch. It took them 20 minutes to make my order. Extremely slow service here compared to other L&Ls. I had to eat my meal in the car. I also noticed the much older lady was so preoccupied with her phone. She could of at least helped out and make the food/beverages get out much more quickly. First I ordered a chicken katsu curry. They ran out. I then proceeded and ordered the spam masubi, chicken katsu and a Thai tea. When I was waiting for my order, I overheard the server telling other customers that they're out of this and that. Wow. How do you run a business like this ? The spam masubi literally fell apart when I took the first bite. I mean, it's good. But I thought if it takes 20 minutes to make an order, it should at least be presentable. Or at least stay intact. The thai tea wasn't bad. But again, it took a while to receive my beverage. I don't understand why it takes so long to make a mixed drink ? I've worked as a barista before and I can make probably 12 drinks in the amount of time I had to wait for my thai tea. The chicken katsu was okay. The meat was tough to chew on. And the macaroni salad tasted odd to me. Albertson's salads are more tastier than this place. The price I paid for the whole meal came out to $16.05. Which is pretty expensive for one person. I don't think I will be coming back here. I much rather prefer going to Ono Hawaiian BBQ instead.

4.95 for bbq beef saimin! This is good noodle for cheap price. I definitely recommend this place to evryone.

Definitely a two to three star place. The food was okay; however the spam musubi was awful. First, it did not look like the picture. Second, it was super salty and needed more rice. Third, awful presentation. Yay for the Atkins options. But, the meat was really greasy. Basically, its your regular combo without the rice and macaroni salad. Lots of parking and located near Target. Plenty of places to sit. The floor was super sticky. :/

I love the shaved ice here, but it seems like I wait a really long time even if no one is in this place. The food is just ok. I ordered the garlic shrimp and the shrimp are not peeled or deveined and they are covered in garlic. It was just okay and it kinda sucked having to peel the shrimp myself. The shaved ice is the best in town, so I give them a 3, since the food is just ok

Good bbq chicken. Rice plate is generous. Saimin noodle soup hits the spot. Service is in the slow side... But the food makes up for it

First and last time here. My gal and I decided to try this place when we failed to find an apparently closed sushi joint nearby. The choices seemed like we had to select the best two of a bunch of mediocre options. There were four other people sitting around, waiting for their orders, as it turned out. Once we ordered, a long wait began for us as well. Finally, they filled one guy's order. A few minutes later, the next guy got lucky, until he returned saying he left his wallet. He claimed he found it in the trash can in the bathroom. The two counter girls were unmoved. Which spoke volumes about the service. Having cooked and waited tables, the slow pace is attributable to a cook who is unable to do more than one order at a time (i.e. pathetic). Food quality to value ratio? Not so great. Greasy, salty, and uninspired. With plenty of options in Rancho, I have no reason to ever return.

It takes a lot for me to want to write a review and unfortunately I am.. I used to eat at this establishment fairly often until my visit today. The cashier was friendly and even recognized me from previous visits. After i paid for my food, I noticed the beverage display by the register had mold 2 of the 3 cups. But it wasn't just any mold, it was BLACK MOLD. Once I noticed the mold, I began to look around the restaurant for a rating. Their B Rating was posted conveniently next to the door that is not currently available for use -- they ask you to go around the side of the building for entry. So now that i found it, i went and scanned the qr code provided too see why they got a B. Among a lot of things, the biggest issue was CROSS CONTAMINATION. As per the inspector, "Inspector Comments: Observed a staff member place tongs used to handle raw chicken on a cleaver and cutting board - this same cleaver and cutting board were then used to chop up the cooked chicken; No employee shall commit any act that may cause the contamination or adulteration of food, food-contact surfaces, or utensils." By the time i had read this, my food had been made and i couldn't bring myself to eat it. Luckily when i got back to work, a co worker had extra food that they let me have. I sincerely wish i would have listened to my boyfriend when he said we should eat elsewhere so at least then your name wouldn't be ruined. Oh yeah, it's really embarrassing since our friend was with us from out of town and i had to find out about the cross contamination/black mold issue after he had already started to eat. He did also comment that some of the tasted as though there were soap on it. He couldn't finish his food and had to throw it away.

I love their Chicken Katsu and Fried Shrimp...I always go here everytime i crave for Hawaiaan food...It just sometimes get so long to wait for the food, but it is understandble...i still love to eat here anyway :)

I'm sorry I don't always give such a low rating. But after coming here I feel like I must. The place was empty hence the reason because it's Easter. But what completely killed it for us was that two tables down from us was a huge cockroach. Absolutely discusting! I went up to the front to told the girl who was working and she apologized and said she's never ever seen that before there and never has this ever happened. Then she told the cook about and he just came out with a paper towel and a glove and picked it up with his hands. The only reason I am giving two stars is because the girl at the front was really nice and gave good service. The food wasn't good,But I'm sorry, we will never be back here again.

This L&L charges about 20% more than Hawaii L&Ls. That would be a rip - off. Things are supposed to be more expensive in Hawaii. Things have to be shipped to Hawaii, but to charge 20% more in the mainland? On top of that, their food isn't a good representation of local food from Hawaii.

    (2)
  • R R.

This is way better then Ono when it comes to options and waiting time mahalo for the food. You have to try loco moco. This is a total hangover combo plate of all the essentials including your beef your protein carbs with the rice and macaroni salad and add that extra protein with those two over easy eggs. Gravy might be a little too much for some but you can ask for a little bit of that. After having this monster muscle meal of protein you will curedof all that ails you. And packed to the max with a full stomach. At some nice vanilla tea you too.

  • Amanda A.

It gets two stars because the food was decent and they have cool options for boba, but the prices are DEFINITELY not worth it. The prices are REALLY inflated at this one. You're paying more here than you would at other L&L's and for what? Nice floors, a marquee on the wall and shitty service provided by the girls up front? And what was the straw on the camel's back for me was how pathetic my spam musubi looked and the fact it took a good 15 minutes. Yeah no thanks, not coming back.

    (2)
  • Rima S.

I only have 2 options around my place for Hawaiian bbq. L&L and Ono. L&L has more option on choices and of course BOBA! SHAVED ICE! SPAM MUSUBI! So I come here more often (plus it's in the same complex as my favorite stores!) Depending on the time of the day, service may be slow, but it's not a big deal to me. I usually have the Chicken Katsu with of course the yummy rice & macaroni salad (I die). I want to try more stuff now, like the Saimin (ramen with whatever topping choice you want). The boba is decent. I don't really care cuz I just love having black gewey balls in my mouth. Bam.

  • Brittney N.

Terrible service. The employees take their time to help you hand are always on their phone. I waited 20 minutes for a mini plate and when I got it the order was wrong! It's too expensive for what you get. But I have to say the food was good even though it was not what I originally ordered.

I haven't been to a L&L in a while. However, this location in Rancho Cucamonga is the only decent Hawaiian place by my office. Back in Hawaii, the only L&Ls I would go to are in Honolulu on Kamakee (the original), and in Kalihi on Liliha. The one on Kamakee is the original, and they don't skimp on the portions. Coming here reminded why the only place I get Hawaiian food in Huntington Beach is a Da Hawaiian. I ordered the traditional BBQ Mix Plate - BBQ Beef, Kalbi and BBQ Chicken - $8.95. Obviously, it comes with the two scoops rice and mac salad. The beef was OK. It was marinated properly and had a good taste to it. However, I only received one piece of kalbi and it was fatty. The chicken also did not have much taste: 2 Stars on the kalbi and chicken. Lastly, the mac salad was just OK and they didn't give much rice. I ran out of rice before I finished the meat. That is OK, I didn't need to finish all the marginal food. The ambiance is what L&L on the mainland has become: Nothing special. The service was OK. As other reviewers have mentioned, it took a while to get my food. However, it didn't take 25 or 30 minutes: 3 Stars for both. I don't know if I would come back here. The food is marginal. I can wait until I get to Huntington Beach and hit Da Hawaiian. Or if I am in the South Bay, I'll hit Bob's Hawaiian, Bruddah's or Gardena Bowl.

If you don't have 30 min to waist this is'nt the place for u. Way under staffed on top of cashers don't seem up to par. The food was good and the amount was good. But that waiting and slow detail leaves a bad impression to not want to come back. There is only 30 more restaurants surrounding the place. Its not like there isn't choices.

  • Steve L.

L&L is always a favorite for me. The BBQ Chicken is yummy, and the macaroni salad is always really good. The portions are large as noted on so many other reviews, so if you want to get the small size it may still be enough for a good meal. This particular location is nice. So many of the L&L locations are a little seedy, but this one is nice and clean. Just know going in that it's basically fast food. Not a good date meal or anything, but an awesome quick lunch.

service was pretty slow, doesnt seem too professional here. I only ordered spam masubi it still took around 15 minutes.... and when it came it looked worse than something I would make at home.. loosely wrapped with hard stale-ish rice.. hmm (additional context, purchased at full price not $1 spam masubi tuesdays... not really interested in seeing how the $1 spam masubis will be like.) maybe I shouldnt be so quick to judge an establishment off one order of spam masubi... but looking at the rest of the reviews, the feeling I get from this place, and the quality and effort put into a simple order I dont think they really deserve more of my money...

While this may sound like I'm bitter or this was just one bad experience, I hardly ever write reviews unless I think something needs to be done. I've been to other Ono Hawaiian BBQs and they have all provided me with excellent service and good food. I went in on a Thursday night an hour before closing. Their store was empty, with two employees and one cook working. I can ignore the strange anti social behavior of the two employees, but when I brought up an issue, they rolled their eyes at me and did not respond with words. That may sound strange, but the male employee just mumbled along and walked away rolling his eyes. If i was more confrontational I might have said something, but I ignored it. When we left however, I saw the female employee gesture at us and laugh as we drove away. I am not sure what it was about as I only asked about a sign in the store. Now this part is about the food. I ended up only ordering spam musubi because they said they no longer serve curry. I placed my order around 8pm and did not receive my two pieces of musubi until 8:23pm. The presentation of the food looked bad, as some other users noted, and completely unlike what I receive from other locations. I was feeling so bad about giving them my business but could not do anything about it as I already paid. I really wish I would have just asked for a refund or something. Long story short, I have never experienced such strangely rude service before. Food was decent enough, but I will not be going back to support a business that have rude employees and bad service.

first of all, extra steam rice on the side cost way to much! second, the waiting to order that steam rice, it took me 10mins. third, i have seen sanitary issues in this place.

I'm done with this L&L. It's been longer and longer between visits because the service has degraded, and my visit last night was the final one. There was no line when I ordered, and the dining area was less than half full but I waited over 25 minutes to get my food. So much for a "quick serve" establishment. All I ordered was two plate lunches and spam musubi and then sat for 25 minutes while the two girls behind the counter gabbed non-stop and the solo cook worked as slow as possible. When I'm trying to get take out for my family and get home I don't expect McDonald's speed from L&L, but I also don't expect it to take as long as if I sat down in a regular restaurant. The food was just fine, middle of the road. The kalua pork was dry, and they are cutting back on the portions. I had more chicken than anything in my BBQ mix plate, very little beef teriyaki, and only one section of ribs instead of the usual two. L&L is much closer to my house, but I wish I had just gone the extra distance to Aloha King; that is what I will be doing the next time I want Hawaiian style take out.

Never again will I ever come to this horrible place! The service was horrible n the girls had no idea what they're doing! I ordered the Korean BBQ ribs! What I got was nothing like KBBQ! When I took my order back n told the girl. She informed the cook n he's excuse for this ribs were that that's how they come n there was nothing he could do!!! This place sucks!

5-4-15 Our first time there and also our last. We were shopping nearby and thought we would try it out. My wife ordered the Kahlua pork bowl, with cabbage, and I ordered the chicken sandwich combo. There was only a few people there, that had ordered already. We waited for about 15 minutes until our order was ready. My wife first bite of the bowl was a bit of frozen broccoli.I had a bite of a cool dry hamburger, not bad but I had ordered the chicken sandwich. They said that they would fix our order but I just asked for a refund instead. I didn't trust the cook as he was looking at us like we did something wrong?? I had told my wife that I didn't know why the cook would be wearing a "coco's" hat when he was working at L&L BBQ? anyway don't waste your time or $ there.

This place has its pros and cons. I'll give it a three only because the girls here are hella cute hahaha no seriously, prices are steep and food preparation takes a pretty long time. Also, this is supposed to be an island spot to eat, they need to stop playing hip hop and take it to the island music. Aside from that, food is great and place is clean. I only come here when I have extra money to throw around.

Food and service sucks. They take way too long to prepare the food and once you get it the food is horrible. We ordered grilled mahi mahi with garlic. I swear it was awful. Fish was very dry and tasted awful. I never experienced this at their west covina location which was back when I lived in Covina but moved to Upland. I will just have to drive out there from now on to get some delicious grilled mahi mahi

I'm surprised by some of the reviews, but all in all I had a wonderful L&L experience and it brought me back to the old days which is a win win! I had my usual hawaiian bbq chicken which is always perfection just the way it is..I once again went up to the clouds from the macaroni salad (just something about it)..SIGH! My only gripe is that the locations seem to be a dying breed now as I outlasted ones in Corona and Chino Hills which were near to me as the years have gone by, but at least this one is in an area where I still frequent enough so winner's circle all around. There was one downside and that was the boba side of the restaurant as the boba was hard and seemed like it was defrosted slightly, but really hard to chew which was a first and a let down..However it was a bit random to have that here! No mahalo for that, but to the rest I tip my coconuts!

  • Jen S.

The food is good. But I can track, kill, clean and grill my good faster than they can fulfill orders. We have given them the benefit if the doubt a couple of times but my word they don't seem to change.

  • Amanda C.

While I've always enjoyed the Chicken Katsu here the service here is awful. I've never waited so long for food in my life! I would suggest calling in if you're in a hurry. And they never cut my chicken! Some of us aren't taking this home where we can cut it with real knifes. Instead we're left to suffer with plastic knifes and it can be very frustrating. Not to mention all the people working here seem to be kids who are more preoccupied with being on there phone and gossiping then actually doing their job.

Fresh food every time. It will take a while for you to receive your food because they start cooking it right after you order. So if you are patient this is the place to go. They stuff the food box.

growing up in Hawaii u come to expect plate lunches to have a certain flavor/zing! this facility prepares most of it's dishes with the zing we've come to expect; the workers are on the most, friendly and service is good. the prices are on the high side, and even tho' they offer lomi-lomi, and even lau-lau, i didn't give them 5 stars because no poké is on the menu (our favorite location @ La Verne does)...

I've always go to L&L. This is my second time going to the L&L in this location. I"m not happy with it. I went here I believe on Sat night with my niece and let me tell you what happen. When I was there, there wasn't a lot of people eat there. The cashiers was just whatever. She don't even smile or help us out with the menu. After I order my food, I have to wait almost half an hour to get my food. And it was one customer ahead of me. Once they call my number, I just grab and went straight home. I don't want to deal with them anymore. Then when I went home, I check the food and guess what???? They mess up my order. I was so pissed off. I know it's kind of my fault that I need to check the food before I left there, but I was too tired and besides they should check first before they give it to me. Isn't that part of their job not just to stand doing nothing and always talk.

Food takes forever to come out, I got the Maui fish & Katsu combo plate..fish sucked I didn't eat it..Katsu was just ok...white rice even tasted too salty, the only decent thing was the Mac. Waste of time & 10$.

30 mins to get food for two people! All we ordered was 2 healthy BBQ plates. Looking around, there were more people waiting than eating. We checked in on our order after a few minutes, and the cashier said it was taking long because they had to cut the lettuce. Yeah right! I could have grown my own lettuce and cut it myself in that time. I will still be a L&L Customer at other locations, but NOT at this Rancho Cucamonga location.

As I sit here waiting for my food-mini chicken katsu I am wondering why it has taken 20 mins. thus far and they are still 2 #s away from calling mine. Service is definitely not a strong point here lets just hope the food makes up for it.

I've only been to this location a handful of times and each time the order has been called in. My friend and I order the BBQ mix plate with an extra side of chicken and the feeds both of us. The portions are generous and the meat is nicely marinated and cooked. A couple times the meat has been fatty but not so much to the point where it's not edible. Last time I came here I got a Thai boba tea.. Delicious. The girls who work the counter are friendly and the call in orders only take about 10-15 minutes. Not too shabby.

It's been quite some time since I've came here. I believe it was almost my first Yelp review, so I decided to hit up this joint over the weekend cause I was in the area. My son and I ordered the Chicken Katsu & Wife ordered the BBQ Chicken. Everything was super hot and delish like always. The person working the register was very nice and understanding. Mega cool points to her. I haven't been here in a long time due to another "hawaiian" spot closer to home and I really enjoy it as much as I do here. This time we didn't order the shaved ice, we asked our son, but he wanted ice cream instead. Prices are still great, heaps amount of food (even if you get the mini plate), and you'll leave with your tummy very happy. Thanks for the good eats L&L Hawaiian Barbecue

I usually speak praises about this particular Hawaiian BBQ but today was AWFUL. First of all, I got there around 11:50 AM (there was not a lunch rush as this point in time, mind you) and they're usually speedy about getting your food out to you. That was certainly NOT the case today. Around 12:15 I decided to go up to the counter to see what was up since my co-worker had ordered at the same time as me and got her food shortly there after. I was giving them the benefit of the doubt but if I had not gone up to the counter and inquired about the status of my order, I would probably still be waiting around like a fool for food that was never going to show up. They can't even blame it on the lunch rush since that didn't happen until 12:15 when I was at the counter. It was just the cook staff being INCOMPETENT. Olivia (the gal working the front counter at the time of this fiasco) didn't remember what I ordered so she asked the cooks about order #10 and they looked at her like a deer in the headlights. Unacceptable. I didn't get my food until 12:20 so nothing like waiting around for a half hour. The chicken was hard to bite into and a lot of it was chewy SO they took ALL THAT TIME to produce food that was lacking the usual quality they deliver. I should also mention that during the time I was waiting for my food, everyone and their mother that came in after me got their food in a timely fashion. BUT NOT ME! The staff didn't even offer me a free drink or something along those lines as a gesture of kindness for having the cooks forget about my order. That would have been a nice token of apology and I know that some places do not practice that (this being one of them, apparently) but if they want to keep their customers loyalty, they should have tried harder to fix the situation and appease my anger and maybe, just maybe I would not be sitting here writing this review...I suppose we will never know! I hope you're happy, Hawaiian BBQ. You just lost a loyal customer and as a result, I will be telling all my friends and family members about your lack of customer service and how y'all forget about orders. SMOOTH.

My favorite hawaiian food joint in Rancho & surrounding area. Its fast food- so don't expect anything fancy, just good grub at good prices. Hawaiians make the best macaroni salad. Tip- Try the pinapple-coconut snow smoothie, its delicious!

This place definitely sucks. This place takes far too long. I went in the other night, there were 3 other customers already waiting. I ordered, it took about 30 minutes and the food was awful. Chicken Katsu looked like minced chicken, it was terrible. I have gone to plenty L&L, never had such bad service. I was very dissatisfied. The girls in the front kept playing with the cooks...we all could hear them laughing and messing around back there. After finally getting my food and so unhappy with how it looked, I demanded a refund. Dumb ass girl in the front had to call the owner to have her authorize the refund. But I am happy to say that I did get my full refund (that's why the 1 star). I will never go here again.

The food at l&l is always amazing. It's just the customer service that lacks at this specific establishment. Never have I ever been to an l&l where they proceeded to make many in-corrections in orders. The worker Kayla, needs to be prompted twice because it has been a full three times she has messed up my orders. I'm honestly at a lost of words for the service at this point because Customers are always right, and we don't deserve this! Terrible service! Terrible!

Avoid this Hawaiian food place unless you want to wait forever for your food. I arrived in the evening at 5:30 and there was only one other party in the whole place; they ordered there food and 10 minutes later there food was done but that wasn't the case for me 30 minutes later no food. Then people started to come in. So I asked what happened to my order and the girl said they are working on it. After 40 minutes of waiting for my TO GO food it's still not done! And I look over and the party who was there just seconds before me and they were done. Then they start announcing numbers of people that showed after me. SERIOUSLY. Finally after 45 minutes of waiting my food it was done. Not to mention the girls just stood around talking. Also mind you all I ordered was two barbque plates; nothing that extravagant and I also paid $22 for both plates! I have been to plenty of Hawaiian barbque places and I have never had this slow of service; I understand 20 minutes but 45 is insane especially since I was only on there for a while!! The food is good; just as good as some of the other places but it's not spectacular and totally not worth the service wait!

Slow service, thought the guava flavored drink I got was terrible, employee said they weren't allowed to switch drinks. Get with the times and develop customer satisfaction practices. Love their food, but they lost my service.

Food tastes the same as any other L&L but I can't believe I waited 25 minutes to get my food. Totally unacceptable as I expected to wait 10 minutes tops for Hawaiian bbq. The staff were very nice but they need to do something about ramping up the kitchen operations. I can only say that my point here is validated based on the most recent reviews posted on yelp. I really felt at one point that I could go back there and make my own food. If you are really craving some L&L then just be sure to call ahead of time but it is not worth wasting your lunch break away. They have some specials on Tuesdays that look very cheap. Also, $5.00 minimum for credit cards.

It's a hit & miss. I believe it depends on who cooks that day or what kind of mood the cook is in. Their Macaroni salad is blah. Their food overall is not as tasty as other L&L places I've tried. I came in here 2x. Their boba is good...but other than that...you just go in there without expecting that your food is going to be tasty. I just put the Srirachai hot sauce; everything with Srirachai hot sauce make your food taste good. My friend said that it used to be good, so I don't know what happened. The cashier is always friendly though.

Love this place!!! Reminds me of better times. This is the place to eat if your feeling down or adventureous. Yes it's not the healthiest but it's not supposed to be, its comfort food at it's finest. Chicken katsu is always always on point (you can ask for white or dark meat also) and Spam Musubi or with eggs is always nice when your on a cheat day or weekend if you are active like I am. Way better than Ono (the chicken katsu there is embarrassing). I don't care much for the Mac salad so I get another scoop of rice at no extra charge. Don't rush this place its in bad spirit of Aloha.

First time, around Christmas Holidays. I believe a week before Christmas. My husband ordered a bbq special. Had beef and chicken. Took a long while before we got the plate. Many people were sitting down waiting for there food (before us). Took approx 20 min to get our plate. Very Friendly service though and clean environment. Pretty pricey for the amount of food you get(small portions for 8.95). Ono hawaiin bbq gives you more food and is slightly cheaper.

35 mins to get my food! 2 people ordered after me got their food first. This is not the first time this had happened. Will never eat here again. The cook was busy watching TV, instead of focusing on cooking.

This is the only branch of L&L that I've seen offer snow cones and boba. WINNER for sure! They also have a wider selection of hawaiian food compared to Ono.

Service is friendly. Food is pretty good. They don't cook it until you order it, so if it's busy, be prepared to wait. I visit this location frequently for Boba smoothies. Guava and Strawberry Colada my favs.

I ordered a the beef combo plate, which i think was a #15. One of the reason i liked hawaiian bbq is because of the macaroni salad and this was nothing like ive ever had , it was horrible. Ive had it here before and i loved it, dont know what happen. The beef had great flavor but way to much fat and pieces you couldnt eat. I use to like this place but no more. I guess ill stick to Ono

I was leery of coming here based on the wide swings in reviews. My experience was good, my food was cooked to order, cooked well and tasted great. Prices are good. The place is super clean. I ordered the Atkins bbq plate. I am going to come back and try other offerings.

This place is great! I've had the Hawaiian style BBQ Beef, Spam Saiman, Spam/Chicken Katsu/BBQ Chicken Musubi, Short Ribs, Fried Fish and Shrimp. I liked them all. What I like most about this place is the macaroni salad. There's this element of sweetness, combined with feint crunches of onions that just define this particular place. I went to the L&L out in Montclair off of Mountain and their macaroni salad was not good. But here, it is a favorite of mine. You can't go wrong with a small order of BBQ Beef combo with an order of Spam Musubi. I like Spam. The Moco Loco (2 burger patties served on a bed of white rice, drizzled with gravy, topped with two over easy eggs, and then topped off with more brown gravy) has always peaked my interest, especially after seeing the Hawaii episode on Man vs. Food. One day I shall try that dish. I like going to this spot. It's good, hearty, flavorful food.

The service is extremely slow and they sometimes over cook the food. All of these things go against it yet I will eat there every week.

love loco moco (was told that it means crazy booger in Spanish). dont forget to bring some hot sauce w/ it. that's pretty much the only thing I order from there. 4 stars b/c the price is a bit high...and the tables there are not very clean.

it was a hot day in rancho and i decided i wanted some shaved ice! luckily the coworkers wanted L&L so we headed here for lunch. because everyone ordered a meal and i couldnt stop myself from eattin the mac salad I ordered a half order of bbq chicken & a shaved ice with watermelon syrup! the shaved ice was huge waaaay to big for anyone to finish on your own. its super boring just a giant snow cone but it totally does the trick on a hot hot day. the bbq chicken was really fatty. i hate random fats stuck on my chicken :( so that was a little disturbing but other then that it was A-OK.... the lemon pepper shrimp looked REALLY good ill be back for that next =)

I have only had the skinless barbecue chicken meal, and it's an awesome dish. The people have been very friendly, but the wait here can be a little long. My advice is if you are eating for yourself, order the large portion and divide it into two meals.

L&L, home of the plate lunch since sometime in the 1970s. I like this restaurant. I used to like it more when it was under previous management, but it's still good now. I think the change in management was actually a minimal impact on the quality of service and food here, but it was noticeable, with there still being a very high level of quality in customer service and food quality. I guess it just lost a little of that shine it had before. I usually order the BBQ Beef, BBQ chicken, or Chicken Katsu. They are always good. Once in a while the BBQ beef is a little greasy, or the Chicken Katsu is a little soggy, but all in all, it's a good meal. An extra bonus at this location is they have Hawaiian newspapers. It's great to be able to read it as you're waiting for take out or for your food to come to your table. I think this makes this restaurant a little more interesting than direct and indirect competitors alike. Additionally, they have a number of extended menu items that a lot of Hawaiian BBQs don't, like shaved ice, coffee drinks, etc. Recommendation: for a decent meal at a decent price, stop on by and see if the flavour of the islands doesn't thrill you. And while you're there don't forget to check out the Hawaiian newspaper for that extra feeling of being in the islands.

I waited what seemed like forever to have my family served here and I watched the cooks and I saw no commitment to efficiency and speed. They clearly didn't care how long it takes and they even have a sign up that says "Please be patient." What kind of crap is that? The Kalua pork didn't have much flavor at all and the pictures of the food do not always represent how they sell their food. The Diet Pepsi syrup had run out and that gave me an opportunity (having worked in food service myself) to see the poorly cleaned soda dispenser. Lots of opportunity for bacteria to grow in such a sticky, sugary environment. They should know better! I'm not going back here. Bring something to read and plan on an extended stay.

Ok place to go. Service is not always that great. Not normally greeted right away. Takes a while to get food. Most recent visit was for take out. Got back home and didn't have any sauce for our chicken or shrimp. Lucky we live close so we wen back. Girl wasnt sorry that we had to drive back. And tried to charge us for a second sauce. We are going to start going to other Hawaiin BBQ's places.

The food is good and tastes pretty fresh as it is cooked to order. The macaroni salad is good and has a slight lemon-tuna flavor. My favorite thing on the menu is the mahi mahi. Their drinks are good; especially anything with coconut in it. My only complaints are that the cooking and service are slow (every time) and the young brunette hostess they currently have speaks too softly and in this weird sing-song type of voice. I always have to ask her to speak up and repeat things but she won't! She just smiles like she's totally stoned. It's very strange and makes it difficult to communicate with her.

the food was delicious from the cook. the only bad thing was that the girl was busy chit chatting with the other girl that she forgot my ice in my tea with boba. i heard her realize that she forgot. she didnt approach to apologize or change my drink.

eh! ordered the bbq mix. beef was salteeee. ribs were okay. chicken was very tasty. never cared much for macaroni salad at any hawaiian place. also tried the thai iced to w/boba. boba was too soft. way too much cream and the cream tasted like coconut. definitely not what i was expecting.

I've eaten at this place two or three times. I've tried the teriyaki chicken, beef, and chicken katsu. For a fast food place, the food was adequate, but compared to an actual sit down restaurant, the food wasn't very good. The meat was overcook and not tender and the sauce was a little off. For the money, better spent at another restaurant.

Food was good. I would go back. My meal took 10 minutes to be ready which is a long time for a chicken bowl to go on a fast food restaurant.

What can I say... It's freakin :L&L!! you can't ever go wrong in anything you order here. I have never been disappointed.. in fact, I'm always delightfully satisfied after a meal from here. Their staff is always friendly and efficient. This location offers specials on Tuesdays and Wednesdays (I believe) and they're roughly $6 for a large plate of Chicken Katsu or BBQ chicken. It's a pretty darn good deal considering that there's soooooo much food... I always have left overs for the next day. This place is my comfort food joint. It's LOVE :)
